The canoe Te Arawalanded at various points around the Coromandel Peninsula, and those on board named several places, including Moehau Mountain. WebRuawehea was a descendant of Ngāti Hako who were regarded as the first settlers of Hauraki. Many of the Marutūahu descendants whakapapa to Ngāti Hako through Ruawehea.
